The Kansas Humanities Council is the only organization in Kansas solely dedicated to promoting the humanities as a public resource for all Kansans. For 40 years, KHC has been a partner and advocate for the cultural life of the state. KHC encourages communities to view their libraries, museums, arts centers, senior centers, and local service clubs as forums for ideas. Through programs and grant opportunities, KHC clarifies the connection between history, literature, ethics, and culture and the daily decisions that Kansans make on the job, at home, and in their civic life.
KHC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a 22-member Board of Directors. KHC is an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities and is not a state agency. Funding is provided by NEH, the State of Kansas, and private gifts.
