February 26 - April 11, 2010
Friday, February 26 5-7 PM - Opening Gala
& Chamber After Hours. Special viewing for members and
supporters and showing of "Journey Stories" video. Food,
prizes, and other fun.
Saturday, March 13 - Parade and prizes to local
businesses and organizations. Prizes and food at the Elk's Lodge
after the parade.
Wednesday, March 17 5-7 PM - St. Patrick's
Day. Come celebrate your Irish heritage and other heritages
at the museum with traditional foods from Atchison County people
from around the world.
Monday, March 22 5:30 - 7:30 PM - Pioneer
Club scavenger hunt in the museum for youth in 4th - 7th grades.
Pizza, games, prizes, and crafts.
Thursday, March 25 6:30 PM - I'm Here Because
of the Orphan Train. Local resident Bob Staley shares the tale
of his mother and her siblings who came from New York to the Midwest
on the Orphan Train. Refreshments served.
Saturday, March 27 5:30 PM - Journey Stories:
Why We're Here presented by Isaias McCaffery, Kansas tour scholar
for Journey Stories. Refreshments served.
Tuesday, April 6 4:30 PM - Water, Wagons and
Wheels. A Journey Adventure of fun and games at the Atchison
Library.
Saturday, April 10 9 AM - 4 PM - Wagon Train,
Pony Express & Rail Day at the Santa Fe Depot. Experience
life on the Oregon Trail in a wagon, watch the Pony Express mochilla
handoff at 10 AM, noon, and 2 PM, take a ride on a mini-steam train,
and explore food on the trail with Journey Stories.
