Call Your Representatives

Call the Washington DC or local congressional office, or both, and tell them how important humanities programs are to your community.

Not sure what to say? Here is a sample script that you can use. Remember that personal stories about the value of the humanities locally make an impact.

“My name is _________ and I live in ___________. As you work on the budget, I want to share the important role that the Kansas Humanities Council plays in our community. Through funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Kansas Humanities Council awards grants and supports programs that engage Kansans with the history and ideas that make our community a better place to live. [insert your story here]. Cutting NEH would negatively affect our community’s quality of life. It won’t impact the federal budget. Thank you for your time and support.”
