Crossings examines the relationship Franklin Countians have with the Marais des Cygnes River. The exhibit documents how Franklin County continues to control, protect, and respect the river as a source of safe drinking water and a site for recreation. It also examines how the construction and destruction of river crossings influences the development, success, or demise of communities.

The project is part of "Water/Ways," a statewide initiative focusing on people's relationship with water.
