Presented by Rich Hughes

The fast paced, well coached, athletic game of basketball we know today is a result of the work of Kansans. The college Final Four and March Madness directly resulted from the efforts of James Naismith, Forrest "Phog" Allen, and Gene Johnson. This presentation also includes a screening of the KHC-funded "Oil and Gold" documentary short film about the McPherson Refiners success at the 1936 Olympic Games, based on Hughes' book "Netting Out Basketball 1936."
