The first night game in organized baseball was played on April 28, 1930, in Independence, Kansas. To commemorate the event, the Topeka Westerns will take on the Emporia Howe House in a game of vintage baseball. Throughout the game, announcers will provide historic facts from the 1930 game.

The event supports "Independence, Baseball, & History" a special exhibit at the Independence Historical Museum & Art Center. The project is part of "Hometown Teams," a statewide initiative exploring the way sports build and unite communities.
