Fort Hays State University history professor Leo Oliva will lead a discussion about early trails in Kansas, including the Leavenworth & Pikes Peak Express Company, Central Overland California & Pikes Peak Express Company, Smoky Hill Trail, and Pony Express.

Juti Winchester, Fort Hays State University history professor, will discuss Buffalo Bill Cody and explore how buffalo hunting fueled the railroad industry.

This event is part of a series of lectures, readings, and discussions that explore human migration through Kansas by looking at the overland trails and railroads of the 19th century.
